House of Shila

One House, Many Doors

They came to us with a hotel. A neoclassical residence in the heart of Athens, and a feeling about what it should be that was clearer than any brief.

The feeling turned out to be bigger than the building. What they were describing was not one address but a way of receiving people, and that could live in more than one place. So we built House of Shila as a brand in its own right, with room above it for whatever opened next.

It started with Shila. We wrote her as the patron of the house, gave her a story and a manifesto, and everything else grew from her. Mona and Rosa became her sisters, each one a muse with her own temperament, each space taking its character from the woman whose name it carries. A guest does not read any of this. They feel it in how a room is described, how dinner is announced, how the invitation is worded. That was the point. The story had to survive contact with every touchpoint or it was just a nice document.

Today the brand runs well past the hotels. A shop. A network platform. A directory, journals, tour guides. Each one arrived as an idea from the founders, usually faster than any guideline anticipated, and each one had to find its place inside a language that already existed.

That is our role now. Keepers of the brand. Some weeks the work is protecting it from a good idea. Most weeks it is running with one.
